Ian D’Castro is a Consultant in our corporate team, based in our London office.
Ian’s primary focus is on advising insurance intermediaries, brokers and introducers on general insurance related matters ranging from commercial issues to corporate sale/purchases/asset transfers of insurance businesses which often includes dealing with FCA regulatory related issues. Ian has strong market connections and relationships with both Lloyd’s and non-Lloyd’s brokers, managing general agents and third-party administrators.
For the majority of his legal career Ian has worked in the insurance industry, either on the broking or the underwriting side of the business. Before joining Birketts, Ian worked for a specialised insurance practice (EC3 Legal) which subsequently merged with Birketts in April 2020.
Prior to moving into private practice Ian worked for a leading Lloyd’s managing agent/syndicate for 10 years as Head of Legal, and prior to that he was employed by a major US broking house in their legal division.
Ian was admitted as a Solicitor in September 1994.
