James joined Birketts in July 2025 and is a Legal Director in the Real Estate division with a specialism in Energy.
James has significant experience of acting for developers of energy projects thanks to his time spent working in-house at Innova, a major UK renewables developer and operator. He headed up the property division of the legal team, taking a key role in solar and battery project developments, financings, divestments, and acquisitions. James is well-versed in advising on options, leases, purchases, certificates of title, and easements, as well as related due diligence and site assembly issues.
James also has broader experience in strategic land and real estate finance having acted for landowners, developers, and funders on a wide range of property and financing transactions.
