James is an Associate in our Construction and Engineering Team, based in our Norwich office.
Having trained at a top 10 international law firm and practised in their Middle East construction team for a number of years, James brings substantial experience of advising clients in significant, high value and technically complex matters.
On the contentious side, James has acted for employers, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants in numerous fora including arbitration (primarily under the ICC and LCIA rules) and litigation. In addition, James has advised parties in respect of various forms of ADR, most commonly mediation and settlement discussions.
James also has experience of assisting clients in non-contentious matters relating to high value projects and has drafted and / or negotiated a range of associated contract and project documents.
At all times, James looks to balance detailed technical knowledge with legal, strategic and commercial concerns in order to provide informed, holistic advice.

Advising a subcontractor client pursuing via ICC arbitration circa GBP 90 million in claims arising from a large rail project.
Advising a subcontractor client pursuing via ICC arbitration circa GBP 50 million in claims arising from a significant highways project.
Advising a consortium on the merits of its circa USD 20 million in claims arising from an overseas energy facility.
Acting as Tribunal Secretary in a Dubai seated DIAC arbitration.
