
Before joining Birketts as a Consultant in August 2020, Penny headed the Private Client Team at an international City law firm where she practiced for over 30 years advising private clients and charities.
Penny has advised private clients from around the world and a diverse range of backgrounds including royalty, ultra-high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, professionals, business owners, families, trustees, and individuals.
Penny provides estate planning advice to her UK clients and believes that it is important to make time to understand their objectives and needs in order to provide advice tailored to their circumstances. She is also experienced in international estate planning including co-ordinating tax and estate planning advice from relevant jurisdictions to find the best tax planning and succession solutions for non-resident and / or non-domiciled clients. In recent years Penny has advised many non-domiciled clients on the restructuring of their UK property interests in response to UK tax reforms including clients from the Gulf Region, CIS, US, India, and Europe.
Penny also has a particular interest in advising clients from the charity sector having advised numerous charities, many of them household names, including a range of regulatory bodies, royal charter bodies, charitable NHS trusts, educational, religious and relief of poverty charities. She has advised on charitable projects for broadcasters, major corporations, a national sports organisation, and the energy sector. Penny also enjoys advising on smaller charitable projects and charity start-ups.
Penny qualified as a Solicitor in October 1988.
