Quentin Golder

Quentin joined Birketts in 2012 and is a Partner in our Commercial and Technology Team.
He advises clients on a wide range of commercial and intellectual property matters, including research and development agreements, distribution and agency contracts, IP licensing, joint ventures, supplies of goods and services, software licensing and maintenance agreements, and software as a service arrangements. In addition Quentin also advises early stage technology clients in relation to business angel and venture capital funding, as well as share option arrangements.
Quentin’s practice focuses particularly on the digital and life sciences sectors, with a considerable amount of his work involving cross border transactions.
Examples of recent work includes:
- Advising a provider of synthetic antibodies on the licensing of certain of its technology to a US pharma company.
- Assisting a national plant science research institute on a range of matters including the commercial licensing of its IP, and the establishment of a software as a service model for providing digital crop management services to customers.
- Advising a provider of computational solutions for drug discovery, on the establishment of a joint venture for the combination of the joint venturers’ respective technology for the provision of an online solution for customers.
- Assisting a provider of equipment, software and consumables to the life sciences sector, on its US distribution arrangements.
Quentin is based in our Cambridge office.
Quentin is dual qualified, in New Zealand and England, and previously worked for one of New Zealand’s largest law firms. He holds a BA, LLB, LLM (Hons) all from Victoria University, Wellington, NZ and a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Bristol. He qualified as a Solicitor in England in March 1999.
