Thomas Dunn

Thomas joined Birketts in January 2019.

He is a Paralegal within our Regulatory and Corporate Defence Team.

Thomas is the first point of contact for all enquiries to both the Regulatory and Corporate Defence Team and for the team of consultants he manages, including our Health and Safety consultants, a Trading Standards consultant and a Road Transport consultant. Thomas acts as diary clerk to those consultants as well the many advocates within in the team.

As well as dealing with and progressing all new enquiries into the team he will often act as a point of contact to many of the team’s clients providing updates and support to them throughout their matter liaising with the instructed Solicitor or Barrister in the matter.

Thomas is also a fee earner and works directly with all of the advocates within the team, supporting them in the wide range of specialisms offered.

With over 15 years of experience in both policing, preparing and defending criminal cases, Thomas is often the key contact for many of our clients looking for general crime advice. He attends court predominantly with clients and counsel and often acts as a liaison between the two parties, helping the client to navigate the often stressful or complex legal processes, but also to be on hand and support the advocate instructed. Thomas advises in defending many motoring matters and prepares those cases by completing the plea and mitigation forms with our clients as well as meeting our client to take instructions.

Thomas’ work includes mainly private criminal defence, Health and Safety and Regulatory work, Public Inquiries as well as motoring offences and financial crime.
