This course provides delegates with an understanding of the basic construction law concepts and the key issues that arise when working in the construction industry. Delegates will also gain an understanding of the various contracts available and the ancillary documentation commonly used in the construction industry. In addition, delegates will become familiar with the JCT suite of contracts, how to amend them and how to complete the contract particulars.
This course is particularly suited to architects and other professionals working in the construction industry.
This course is split into two parts. The first covers the basic construction law concepts, the different forms of contract and how to complete and amend JCT contracts. There will also be a review of ancillary documentation and insurance issues. Part two contains an overview of key issues that arise for professionals when working in this construction industry, such as variations, taking possession, practical completion, delay, damages, defects insolvency and disputes.
