Amalia completed her undergraduate studies in Law, and further completed her postgraduate studies in International Law and International Relations at the University of Kent. Prior to joining Birketts, she commenced her legal career as a Paralegal in the Real Estate department of a boutique West End law firm in London where she specialised in development plot sales and purchases. Thereafter, she completed the Legal Practice Course with distinction at BPP University, as well as her training contract during which she obtained experience in residential property, commercial property, litigation and real estate finance and qualified as a Solicitor in January 2021.
Amalia has extensive experience of acting on behalf of developers, landlords, tenants, sellers, buyers, borrowers and lenders in residential, as well as commercial property matters. She is a part of the Real Estate Finance Team which advises lenders and borrowers on all aspects of secured lending. The team’s clients include challenger banks, high street lenders and private funders which the team advises on matters ranging from small business loans to multi-million pound facilities.
Since joining Birketts, Amalia’s focus has been providing advice to both borrowers and lenders in respect of secured lending transactions relating to commercial, mixed use and investment properties. Her background in working with a number of developer clients has given her a well-rounded understanding of the considerations arising out of leasehold and freehold property transactions, as well as the ability to provide tailored specialist advice with a commercial focus.
Amalia is an avid reader of philosophy and psychology books. Aside from Greek and English, Amalia has achieved a C1 level qualification in the German language and as a result of her studies in International Law and International Relations, she likes to stay up-to-date with current affairs. During winter, she enjoys alpine skiing and in her spare time, she likes to keep active, as well as travel across the UK and internationally.
