Helen Damshek

Helen is a Trainee Solicitor based in our Cambridge office. She is currently completing her fourth seat with the Family Team, and assists the team with drafting applications, preparing statements of case for court proceedings, carrying out legal research, and preparing court bundles.
Helen completed her third seat in the Shipping and International Trade Team, where she assisted with a diverse range of contentious shipping and international trade disputes, both in the High Court and in arbitration proceedings. Before beginning her training contract, Helen also worked as a Paralegal within the team, gaining a range of experience during this time.
Prior to her return to Shipping and International Trade, Helen completed her second seat in the Private Client Advisory Team, where she assisted the team with wills, lasting powers of attorney, administration of estates, trusts, and tax matters.
Helen completed her first seat in our specialist SIPPS & SSAS Team within the Commercial Property department, where she gained experience in drafting leases and sale contracts, producing reports on title for prospective property purchases and assisted with various transactions.
Prior to joining Birketts, Helen studied Law at the University of East Anglia. Post-graduation, she spent time working in corporate compliance and then training as a secondary school English teacher, before making the decision to return to the field of law. She completed her LLM with LPC at the University of Law in 2023.
In her spare time, Helen enjoys reading, swimming, and spending time with her husband and children. Helen also plans to study Hebrew over the next few years.
