Joseph Thompson

Joe qualified in September 2023 and is a Solicitor in our Commercial and Technology Team.

Joe advises clients on a variety of general commercial matters, including terms and conditions for the supply of services and/or goods, framework agreements, influencer and brand ambassador agreements, software development and software as a service (SaaS) agreements, non-disclosure agreements and referral agreements. Joe also advises clients on complex intellectual property arrangements and various supporting documents, including assignments and licences of intellectual property, collaboration agreements, marketing services agreements and manufacturing and distribution agreements.

Prior to joining Birketts, Joe worked for a boutique sports law firm where he advised on various contracts for high-profile athletes, including sponsorship agreements, player and driver contracts, endorsement agreements and agency agreements and assignments and licences of intellectual property. He also contributed to the second edition of ‘Football and the Law’ by co-authoring a chapter on image rights in football.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys exploring different countries and has an interest in world history, politics, and culture. Joe studied Ancient History and Classical Archaeology at the University of Warwick and lived in China for four years before converting to law.
