Thomas Carley

Thomas qualified as a Solicitor in July 2011 and joined Birketts in November 2018. Thomas leads our Chelmsford-based team and residential real estate refinancing sector. He acts for landlord companies who are expanding or refinancing their buy to let portfolios. As a result of his refinancing work, Thomas is able to act for specialist lenders with closed panels.
Thomas works closely with a number of specialist mortgage brokers and receives a lot of repeat business from borrowers with large property portfolios, spread across the country and internationally.
A recent example of Thomas’ work involved acting for three specialist banks in order to complete 70 mortgages on the same day, which in turn enabled the buyer to fund an acquisition of a £24m portfolio.
Thomas has a team around him with expertise in Sharia Finance and commercial lending solutions for corporate entities.
Prior to joining Birketts, Thomas trained and qualified with a specialist conveyancing firm where he gained experience in multiple aspects of residential property law.
Thomas graduated from Coventry University before completing the LPC with BPP in London.
In his spare time, Thomas enjoys photography, travel and cycling, or a combination of the three if possible.
