Xiaguang joined Birketts in October 2018 as a Trainee Solicitor. She qualified as a Solicitor in our Shipping and International Trade Team in October 2020, and is based in our Cambridge Office.
Xiaguang specialises in shipping litigation with a primary focus on charterparty disputes and cargo claims. She is a trusted advisor to a diverse range of clients, including ship-owners, charterers, cargo interests, insurers, P&I Clubs, and freight forwarders.
She is regularly involved in Arbitration and Court proceedings. She advises and supports her clients in Mediation, LMAA Arbitration, English High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings.
Xiaguang is a native Mandarin speaker. Benefiting from her language skills, she can review and consider documents, advise clients and negotiate with opponents in Chinese.
Xiaguang is a native Mandarin speaker, she grew up in China and moved to England for her higher education. Xiaguang graduated from the University of Leicester with a 2:1 in Banking and Finance, and she continued to obtain a Master’s degree in Financial Economics.
Xiaguang achieved a distinction in her Legal Practice Course at BPP University in London where she studied electives in Advanced Commercial Property, Corporate Finance, and Commercial Law and Intellectual Property.
