Spotlight on… Private Client

This is where we take the opportunity to tell you a bit more about us and the broad range of services we offer to our clients at Birketts. In this edition, we put the spotlight on our Private Client Advisory Team, and introduce you to our new colleague, Penny Wotton.
In August 2020, Penny joined Birketts as a Consultant, bringing with her over 30 years of experience acting for private clients and charities.
Penny has a particular interest in and affection for her charity work and the wide range and diversity of sectors and issues that this specialism involves. She particularly enjoys providing assistance to a wide range of worthwhile charitable causes. She has advised numerous charities, many of them household names, including a range of regulatory bodies, royal charter bodies, charitable NHS trusts, educational, religious and relief of poverty charities. She has also advised on charitable projects for a broadcaster, major corporations, a national sports organisation, and the energy sector. Penny also enjoys advising on smaller charitable projects and charity start-ups.
Penny is ranked in Chambers HNW guide and is a recommended lawyer in Legal 500’s Private Client, Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate section and also Legal 500’s Charities and not-for-profit section. Penny was also awarded Taxation and Structuring Lawyer of the Year (UK) in Finance Monthly Taxation Awards 2019.
