Birketts co-sponsors Power2Inspire’s Power House Games

Birketts and PEM are proud to co-sponsor Power2Inspire, a Cambridge-based sports charity, as they bring the community together in an inclusive games event later this month.
Cambridge University Sports Centre will play host to the second Rugby Power House Games on Thursday 26 September, when students from Impington Village College, Felsted School and Castle Special School, as well as volunteers from PEM and Birketts, will be split into teams to play inclusive adapted games such as boccia, new age kurling, and touch rugby. Members of the Cambridge University rugby team will also take part.
Founder and CEO of Power2Inspire, John Willis, a law graduate from Trinity Hall who was born without fully formed arms and legs, set up the charity in 2013 to encourage more inclusion through sport. As a youngster he was often left on the sidelines when it came to sport, leading to the conception of the charity’s ethos that “no one be left on the bench” regardless of age, gender, race, faith or disability.
Laurence Weeks, Partner in Birketts’ Commercial Litigation Team commented: “Birketts is proud to support this fantastic community day. As well as providing a fun morning of bespoke sports activities for local schools, this event is vital because it brings together people from different backgrounds, whose paths may otherwise never cross. It is important to show that people of all abilities can enjoy active lives and the opportunity to connect with their local community.”
