Law firm Birketts walked away with two wins from the Central and East of England Dealmakers Awards to mark the end of a successful week for the top 50 UK firm.
Alexandra Nelson, Partner in Birketts’ Corporate Team, took the top accolade for Corporate Lawyer of the Year, whilst the firm also won Deal of the Year (Sub £10m) for its role in the acquisition of Broom Boats and Broom Marine Services by Horning Pleasurecraft.
The judges handed Alexandra the Corporate Lawyer of the Year award for working for some of the firm’s largest clients, while also winning new clients in the region and beyond. As well as her outstanding work, the judges were also impressed that Alex is a role-model to others and is committed to developing and mentoring younger lawyers.
Alexandra Nelson said: “I am truly honoured to receive such a prestigious award. It is a reflection of the commitment of the whole team at Birketts to win these two awards and recognition for the hard work the whole team has put in.”
Rafael Ruiz, Head of Birketts’ Corporate Team, presented the award for Emerging Dealmaker of the Year during the ceremony which took place at the Hilton DoubleTree in Milton Keynes on 7 November 2024.
The success comes on the back of the announcement this week that Birketts was voted into The Times’ Best Law Firms 2025 in the categories of family, landlord & tenant and planning practices, for which it was commended.
Birketts’ Corporate Team also announced this week that it had finalised close to £1 billion of deals for clients in the run up to the Government’s Budget announcement.
