Back in June 2018, nearly 1,000 runners turned out to support and raise much-needed funds for Farleigh Hospice. The team at Farleigh Hospice have now been presented with a cheque for £20,000 raised at last year’s Birketts’ Race4Business.
“Farleigh Hospice would like to thank all the runners and supporters from the local business community who took part in Birketts’ Race for Business and raised a staggering £20,000 for Farleigh Hospice. All the money raised has gone towards our new Hospice Outreach Vehicle (HOP), a custom built vehicle which will travel around mid-Essex offering help and support to anyone affected by any life-limiting illness or bereavement. We want our local community to know that whether you are ill, bereaved, or worried about someone who is, Farleigh Hospice is here for you”, said Debbie de Boltz, Fundraising Manager at Farleigh Hospice.
Debbie continued: “We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Birketts for all their hard work in ensuring the race was such a great success, their enthusiasm and commitment to this annual event is fantastic.”
Birketts’ Partner Rafael Ruiz, who organised the event, added: “Working with Farleigh Hospice again has been a real pleasure. We first worked together on the inaugural charity race back in 1998 and we know the positive impact that raising money had upon families throughout Essex. In 2016 the Hospice had to retire their HOP vehicle due to mechanical defects and the money raised by the race has helped fund a replacement vehicle, which will help make a significant difference to individuals and families that need Farleigh’s services.”
He continued: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part to help make last year’s event such a success. We have raised almost £600,000 for good causes since the charity race began 20 years ago. Registration will be opening for the 21st anniversary of Birketts’ Race4Business soon.”
