Birketts’ Senior Associate Debbie Lloyd has been honoured as winner of the Amanda Owens Family Lawyer of the Year award at the annual Norfolk & Norwich Law Society (NNLS) Excellence Awards.
Debbie was chosen by NNLS for her exceptional work in the last 12 months, going above and beyond to support Birketts and her clients dealing with the continued effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The award was named in honour of Norfolk family lawyer Amanda Owens, a much missed professional colleague who sadly died in 2019.
The NNLS gave out five awards at the in-person event on 15 October, recognising the best in Norfolk’s legal community, with prizes for individuals, teams and firms displaying the best in client service, business service and corporate responsibility, as well as an award for Junior Lawyer of the Year.
Oliver Gravell, Partner in Birketts’ Family Team, said: “Debbie works tirelessly for her clients, supporting them through some of the most challenging moments in their lives. She is a fantastic figure within our team and the wider legal community in Norfolk, and we at Birketts know how fortunate we are to have someone of her calibre guiding our younger lawyers. Myself and the whole team offer our congratulations to Debbie on this much-deserved recognition.”
Speaking after the ceremony, Debbie added: “I’m delighted to be recognised by the NNLS with this award. It’s a privilege to be trusted by my clients to help them with the issues arising from their relationship breakdown and is one I take incredibly seriously. The work I do would be impossible however without the support of the entire Family Team, in Norwich and across our offices, so I’d like to thank all my colleagues for their support over the last year which made this possible.”
