Birketts has advised the shareholders of TTNC (The Telephone Number Company) on their sale of TTNC to leading UK technology service provider, Chess, for an undisclosed sum.
Essex-based TTNC provides businesses with communications solutions including call tracking, call management, bespoke telephone answering services and VoIP services. Over the last 18 years, the business has developed a fully-resilient service delivery platform and unique cloud communication platform.
Chess is one of the UK’s leading independent and trusted technology service providers, with more than 20,000 clients and 300 members of staff. The organisations they support range from sole traders and small businesses up to UK-wide and multinational firms, as well as services specifically for the public sector.
The Birketts team was led by Corporate Partner Seamus Clifford and Corporate Solicitor James Stocker with support from the Employment, Property and Tax Teams.
Speaking after the deal, Managing Director and founder of TTNC Mark Burcher said: “Chess is the ideal buyer to take TTNC to the next level – their ethos is something I’ve admired for a long time and it’s clear from the feedback of their clients that they’re providing an exemplary service. Seamus, James and the team at Birketts made this sale as seamless as possible. I’d like to thank them and would recommend them to anyone looking for advice on selling their business.”
Birketts Partner Seamus Clifford added: “TTNC and Chess are an excellent fit – it’s clear these two businesses coming together will provide great benefits for their customers. TTNC’s infrastructure is a technical advantage in a competitive field that Chess will be able to harness going forwards.
Our corporate lawyers are supported by a firm with more than 500 lawyers and a full-service legal offering, so we were well placed to advise on this exciting deal. It was a pleasure working with Mark and Michael and we wish them, and the whole TTNC team, well moving forwards.”
