Ruth joined Birketts in April 2013 and is a Senior Associate in our Agriculture Team.

Ruth specialises in agricultural property and advises farmers, landowners and others involved in agri-business.

As well as acting on sales and purchases of farms, land and residential property, Ruth also advises on a variety of other property matters including easements, overage, pre-emption agreements, option agreements and licences. Ruth also deals with ecclesiastical property transactions.

Ruth advises on agricultural tenancy matters both under the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, and also has experience of advising on and preparing equine and commercial tenancies.

Another aspect of Ruth’s work in which she has acquired a high level of expertise is on refinance transactions where she acts for the bank (as well as sometimes the borrower). Often over vast and intricate rural estates, Ruth undertakes full property due diligence and works closely with the bank during the process.

Ruth has an excellent understanding of those issues affecting the agriculture community having advised clients in the sector for over 15 years.

Ruth is based at our Cambridge office.

Ruth is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, qualifying in June 2008 and is also a member of the Agricultural Law Association

Ruth originally studied music as a degree and is a classically trained musician.

Rachel McKillop-Wilkin and Ruth Lambillion are both a pleasure to work with. They have excellent legal knowledge, give sensible advice, take a commercial approach and are cost effective.
