Catherine qualified in September 1999 and joined Birketts’ Employment Team from an international City law firm in 2009. She specialises in contentious and non-contentious employment law advice for high profile clients predominately in the private sector. Catherine specialises in running projects whether that be a business sale, facilities management, TUPE transfers, harmonisation of terms and conditions and contracts of employment, large-scale collective redundancy exercises, reorganisations and business relocations all on a national and international scale.
Digital Technology: Many of Catherine’s clients are in this space and she advises them on all aspects of employment law ensuring that the relevant organisation has the right foundations in place often after a rapid period of growth or an IPO.
Training: Catherine heads up our training division "Shaping Excellence", which delivers training to organisations far and wide on issues such as: Moving to a High Performance Culture, Managing Investigations, Managing Stress at Work, Equality and Diversity etc. These are offered on an in-house basis tailored to the relevant organisation. Delegates can be HR practitioners, FD's, the leadership team or managers and supervisors. All sessions are carefully designed to be fun, interactive and to suit all learning styles.
Of course Catherine advises on other issues as well such as restrictive covenants or settlement agreements (compromise agreements as was).
Catherine is based at our Ipswich office.
Catherine is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA). She is also on the board of the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce and the Essex and Ipswich branch of the CIPD.
Catherine is recommended by Legal 500 [UK 2020]. In previous editions she is praised for how she "provides robust and balanced advice without losing sight of the commercial drivers," and described as "prompt and precise".
