Experience

Laura trained with a local firm and joined Birketts upon qualification in September 2013. She is based in our Ipswich office. 

Laura has a broad range of experience in all aspects of real property and landlord and tenant work. She regularly represents both landlords and tenants in a variety of disputes, including forfeiture, break clauses, breaches of covenant, dilapidations and rent arrears recovery. She has a particular interest in adverse possession and boundary disputes. 

Laura also has expertise in relation to disputes between co-owners of jointly held property, and is frequently called upon to advise on applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.

Laura is a member of the Property Litigation Association. Laura is also a member of Resolution (a national network of family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes).

Laura is currently on maternity leave.

Other Information

Laura has authored several articles for the Property Law Journal, Local Government Lawyer, and Solicitors Journal on a wide range of property related issues, including: co-ownership disputes over jointly held property under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, Japanese Knotweed liability, and commercial property rent arrears recovery.

Laura provides in-house training to clients on a variety of topics, such as Japanese Knotweed.

Laura is recommended and named as a 'Rising Star' by Legal 500 [UK 2020]. In the previous edition sources note that she "can explain incredibly technical information in a simple, easy way".
