Investigations and Employee Relations Consultant

Sarah joined Birketts in March 2021 as an Investigations and Employee Relations Consultant in the Employment Team based in our London office. She qualified as a Solicitor in May 1993, having trained in a large global city law firm. From 2002 she specialised in employment law, focusing on managing legal risk in day to day employment law advice and employment tribunal litigation, acting for both employees and employers alike.
For the last seven years Sarah has worked in-house in a large global professional services company, regulated by the Senior Managers regime, as their UK Employee Relations Manager, managing a team and dealing with the most sensitive and complex employee relations issues including: investigations; employment tribunal cases and Acas conciliation; conflict resolution; disciplinaries; grievances; sickness absence/ health issues; performance; change management; change in policies and processes; manager training and; work in the wellbeing area.
Sarah has partnered with businesses and HR colleagues at all levels including executive level to improve workplace cultures, ensure robust and fair workplace practices and outcomes. She is proactive in advising businesses in managing risk, dealing with conflict at an early stage, analysing lessons learned and driving change for the better. Her legal and HR background make her well placed to investigate workplace matters on clients’ behalf. Sarah is efficient and focused in analysing complex and conflicting evidence and drafting clear, concise, independent and robust investigation reports, dealing with difficult issues involving employee conflict or workplace change, as well as providing support, guidance and coaching on these issues.
Sarah has a background in conflict resolution having initially specialised in professional negligence cases, acting for the legal profession and product liability litigation for a US law firm.
