
Deborah qualified as a Solicitor in September 2007 and specialises in Commercial Real Estate.
Deborah is a member of the Real Estate team based in Cambridge, first joining Birketts in May 2013, after training and practising at regional law firms in East Anglia and a stint as in-house legal counsel for a company based in Hertfordshire. Deborah returned to the team in 2021 after a short career break.
Deborah works for promoters, developers and private landowners in relation to strategic development projects, predominantly for residential purposes, including dealing with conditional contracts, call and put options, promotion agreements, collaboration agreements, site assembly and overage arrangements.
More generally, Deborah also has many years of experience dealing with landlord and tenant work and acquisitions / sales of freehold development sites.
Recent work highlights
Promotion and consortium arrangements for land earmarked for residential development, including sites in Warwickshire – 2,000 anticipated dwellings, Biggleswade – 400 anticipated dwellings and commercial / employment development in Suffolk.
Acting for the landowners on the sale of consented land for residential development in Essex for a sale price of £11.2million.
Acting for a private school on the sale of a strategic residential land site for £11.4 million, including security arrangements for payments of the purchase price in instalments.
