Emma joined Birketts in June 2016 and is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Team based in our Ipswich office.
Emma has a niche specialism in advising on the merger and acquisition of Lloyd’s LLVs – Limited Companies and LLPs, which own underwriting capacity in Lloyd’s of London and provide capital to the Lloyd’s syndicates.
Emma has particular experience in the insurance market, having previously worked for a large national firm specialising in insurance litigation. Emma spent time on secondment to AXA Liabilities Managers working in their in house legal team.
Emma’s corporate experience includes acquisitions, disposals, providing advice on articles of association, negotiating shareholders’ agreements, and reorganisations.
Emma’s clients have been based locally, nationally, and overseas and include high net worth individuals, Family Investment Companies, Family Offices, and specialists in Construction and Transport and Logistics.
Recent work highlights
Advising individuals, companies and trusts on the sale and purchase of over 200 Lloyd’s LLVs since joining Birketts.
Reorganisations and demergers for Corporate groups, some of which have included Namecos.
Acting for a holding company of a group specialising in civil engineering and infrastructure across the UK in the buyback of shares from a shareholder on a phased basis to assist succession planning.
