George is an Associate in the Birketts Construction & Engineering Team, based in our Cambridge office.

He qualified as a Solicitor in 2020 and has been part of the Birketts Team since October 2023, joining from a global law firm.

His broad construction expertise covers both contentious and non-contentious matters, advising across the full lifecycle of a project.

George drafts, reviews and negotiates all common standard forms of building contract (including JCT, NEC and FIDIC), consultant appointments and the typical ancillary documents (collateral warranties, deeds of novation, performance bonds and guarantees). He regularly supports on projects involving external funding or other complexities and has specific experience acting for clients in the healthcare and life sciences sector. That experience ranges from large senior living developments to bespoke lab, R&D and manufacturing spaces for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

On the contentious side, George provides clients with strategic advice from the early stages of dispute, through the pre-action protocol stage and in bringing and responding to actions under formal dispute processes, including adjudication. He also has experience in (and an enthusiasm for) mediation and other alternative forms of resolving or avoiding disputes amicably.
