James joined Birketts in 2003. He is a Partner in our Agriculture and Estates Team based in our Ipswich office.
With 25 years’ experience as a property lawyer James now concentrates on advising farmers, landowners and agri-businesses as well as banks lending in the agricultural sector. He deals in particular with tenancies, the buying and selling of agricultural land and farming partnership agreements. He has acted for many landowners in transactions with solar developers. He is a member of our Landed Estates team.
James is a Trustee of the Suffolk Agricultural Association.
Recent work highlights
Acted on the sale of an estate in Essex comprising a main residence, numerous cottages, a shoot, a vineyard and arable land.
Purchased a farm in Devon comprising arable and grazing land with a listed manor house at its heart.
Acted for four landowners in granting options to a solar developer in connection with a substantial solar farm in Eastern England.
