Josh joined Birketts as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2023, following a period of employment as a Paralegal in the Firm’s Social Housing Team.
As both a paralegal Trainee Josh has worked closely with both Regional and National Registered Providers, providing direct legal assistance with active disputes, as well as chairing meetings and delivering training to assist clients in navigating an ever-changing regulatory landscape.
As a Trainee in the Commercial Real Estate department, Josh worked for Buyers, Sellers, Lenders and prospective Developers in facilitating a broad range of Real Estate Transactions. Josh further negotiated variations to agreements between Landlords and Tenants to reflect clients’ changing requirements throughout the lifetime of their lease.
Josh is currently sitting with our Litigation and Dispute Resolution in our Chelmsford Office.
Josh supports the East Greenwich Legal Advice Clinic, providing Pro-Bono legal advice to residents in Southeast London in need of free legal advice.
Recent work highlights
Developed and rolled out a novel means of defending claims following a recent decision in the Court of Appeal.
Success in an application to remove a penal notice from an injunction granted against the client, allowing them to carry on their business without fear of criminal sanction.
Experience & education
Josh attended the University of Bristol, where he graduated with a 2:1 in History; he decided to pivot to a career in law, graduating his Legal Practice Course with Distinction in December 2021 before joining Birketts in February 2022.
Before joining Birketts, Josh worked for the litigation team in a South-West London Law Firm, supplementing his existing legal education with a wide variety of contentious practical experience while supporting both commercial and private clients.
