Katie joined Birketts in 2007 having previously worked in an administrative role within the firm. Katie joined the Residential Development Team in 2011, initially as an Assistant supporting the team with all aspects of the administration but soon displaying a keen thirst to progress her career with an eye for the attention to detail required in a high volume role. As such, she rapidly progressed to the role of a Paralegal within the team and is highly regarded by her fellow colleagues as a very valuable member. During this time she has gained a wide and extensive range of experience in dealing with all aspects of new build, refurbishment and conversion properties playing an active role in the day to day running of team matters and her own workload.
Katie manages the day to day running of the plot sales for several of our developer clients within the team which includes high volume conveyancing work and meeting deadlines. In addition, Katie deals with Help to Buy Grant Funding Agreements for schemes requiring HTB funding and other funding or loan arrangements and deals with the drafting and the setting up of the site documentation for both freehold and leasehold schemes. This includes development set ups, management company arrangements and drafting of agreements, transfers and leases to be used for the disposals. She also deals with the negotiation of infrastructure agreements, deeds of grant and other such infrastructure agreements that are required as part of a development set up. She also deals with all aspects of post Completion arrangements, notices, deed of covenants and releases of restrictions securing overage arrangements and getting involved with plan approvals and release of plots from charges at the Land Registry. Katie also assists in dealing with housing association clients and has an in depth understanding of shared ownership and shared equity products.
She is very experienced in all aspects of the conveyancing process including drafting initial reservation paperwork, dealing with buyers Solicitors detailed enquiries, progressing the matters through to exchange of contracts, and dealing with completion and post-completion matters.
After studying part time, Katie is a Qualified Paralegal as recognised by the Institute of Paralegals and is also a member of the Professionals Paralegal Register. She is currently working towards her qualification to become a Licensed Conveyancer. Whilst still undertaking her studies she does have a number of years in depth experience having gained this hands-on and is a key member of our designated New Build Team.
