Kirsty Porter
Kirsty Porter joined Birketts in February 2023 as an Associate in our Commercial and Technology Team.
Kirsty is a certified data protection practitioner and former Data Protection Officer. She specialises in offering data protection advice and preparing compliant policies, notices and contracts. Her clientele spans a diverse range, from public sector organisations to businesses of all sizes, including international corporations. Kirsty provides practical and technical guidance on data protection compliance, conducts audit assessments, and advises on managing complex data breach incidents and handling subject rights requests.
Kirsty’s background is in criminal defence law.
Kirsty is based in our Cambridge office.
Recent work highlights
Delivered bespoke data protection training, including recent case law updates and developments in data protection legislation to a large group of public sector lawyers.
Prepared International Data Transfer Agreements for a commercial client to enable the lawful transfer of personal data outside of the UK.
Advised sixth form colleges regarding UK GDPR compliance, including drafting policies and providing guidance on the use of facial recognition software and CCTV.
