Michael Rowland
Mike re-joined Birketts’ Private Client Advisory Team as a Legal Director in January 2024. Mike was a member of the team between 2014 and 2016 and worked in London based law firms in the intervening period.
Mike specialises in assisting clients with tax and succession planning and this frequently involves the preparation of wills and trusts and the provision of inheritance tax advice, including the structuring of lifetime gifts. Mike regularly liaises with other professionals and his colleagues in other teams within the firm to achieve the best results for his clients.
Mike assists in the administration of valuable estates, often with an overseas’ connection and which frequently involve complex family and tax issues. Mike has experience in negotiating with HM Revenue & Customs as part of the estate administration process and in drafting Deeds of Variation, where appropriate, to assist with inheritance tax planning. Mike also assists clients with powers of attorney and applications to the Court of Protection.
Mike is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and passed his exams with distinction.
