Simon acts primarily for agricultural landowners entering into utility scale renewable energy transactions, including solar installations (ground and roof-mounted), Battery Energy Storage Systems, onshore wind turbines and anaerobic digestion plants.

He has been the lead fee-earner on numerous Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) / Development Consent Order (DCO) projects involving up to ten landowners, as well as smaller scale Town & Country Planning Act (TCPA) single or dual landowner projects. Both are typically in the form of an option for the grant of a 30 – 40 year lease.

Beyond renewable energy Simon has undertaken commercial and residential property work for private individuals, companies, partnerships and not-for-profit organisations. He has particular experience of conditional and unconditional sales and purchases, overage and promotion agreements, farming diversification leases / licences (including of fishing lakes) and first registrations (including on the basis of adverse possession and lost title deeds).

Simon routinely works with colleagues from other teams, specifically Private Client Advisory in connection with tax planning, trust creation and transfers of ownership, as well as external intermediaries such as banking relationship managers, accountants / tax advisors, surveyors and land agents. Simon studied law at the University of East Anglia in Norwich at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
