Thomas Maxey
Thomas is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Real Estate Team based in our Norwich office.
Thomas read Land Economy at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2013. He spent eight years with a leading City of London law firm, qualifying in 2017, before joining Birketts in February 2024.
Thomas advises clients on a broad range of transactional property matters, including the sale and purchase of high-value properties, commercial lettings (acting for both landlords and tenants), financing commercial and development properties (acting for both lenders and borrowers) and the acquisition, financing and pre-letting of development sites across the East of England and the rest of England and Wales.
Examples of recent experience include:
- Acting for various tenants in relation to the pre-letting of a number of high profile London office buildings (e.g. 8 Bishopsgate, 22 Bishopsgate, 20 Fenchurch Street, The Leadenhall Building and Lloyd’s of London).
- Acting on behalf of an active portfolio of lender clients, financing commercial and development properties.
- Advising on the sale of a c.£15million mixed use commercial property in south London.
- Working with a number of household name retailers in relation to new lettings, surrenders and re-gears across their portfolios.
- Advising on the purchase of a c.£13million block of student accommodation in central Birmingham.
- Acting on the sale of a c.£20million office building in east London.
- Advising a landlord client in respect of purchases, sales, new lettings and a variety of management documentation in relation to a large industrial estate portfolio.
- Managing a portfolio of retail, hospitality and office properties on London’s Oxford Street.
- Acting on the sale of a c.£20million office building on The Oxford Science Park.
- Acting on the purchase of a c.£13million high class listed office building in London’s west-end.
Thomas is a member of the British Property Federation (BPF) Futures network and Cambridge University Land Society.
Having both been born in the East of England, Thomas and his wife moved back to the area following a number of years living and working in London. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys spending as much time as possible with his young family and making the most of being back in the countryside.
Thomas has a keen interest in any and all sport, but particularly rugby, cricket and skiing.
