Law firm Birketts LLP has advised its long-standing client, Holkham Estate, on its acquisition of six caravan parks and a caravan distribution sales business from McDonnell Caravans.
The estate, which is owned by the 8th Earl of Leicester Thomas Coke, has acquired the prestigious caravan parks in Snettisham, Heacham, Thornham (two), Holme-next-the-Sea and Brancaster, as well as the McDonnell Caravans’ head office in Gayton.
The newly acquired business will form part of the estate’s existing Holkham Holiday Parks operation.
Melissa Loucas, Partner in Birketts’ Commercial Real Estate Team, led the acquisition for the estate with real estate support from Andrew Ridout (Legal Director) and Thomas Maxey (Senior Associate). The corporate aspects of the transaction were led by Ed Savory (Partner) and Simona Gruodyte (Senior Associate).
Following completion of the acquisition, Melissa said: “We’ve been working with Holkham Estate for over 10 years, supporting the estate on property matters as it grows its portfolio in Norfolk. Holkham’s vision is to be the UK’s most pioneering and sustainable rural estate, and we are proud to work with them in pursuit of that goal.”
Luke Tyce, the estate’s Finance Director, said: “Partnering with Birketts was really important to us on this acquisition. Their strategic guidance and attention to detail were invaluable, providing us with confidence and clarity at every stage. Melissa demonstrates exceptional leadership of her very capable team, ensuring we always received the best possible advice and support.”
Birketts has advised on a range of acquisitions for the estate as it has diversified its portfolio over the years, including hospitality and tourism sites, as well as residential homes.
Melissa added: “We have strong ties with the Holkham Estate, delivering focused advice often on tight timescales. We have assisted them with various initiatives over a number of years, so we really feel like part of the Holkham Team.”
