This course provides delegates with an understanding of the JCT suite of contracts. It focuses on the JCT Design and Build Contract 2016 with a review of some typical amendments made. This course will help delegates identify where risks are commonly passed to the contractor, how such risks can be mitigated, and the best way to operate the contract.
Audience
This course is particularly suited to contractors that are usually engaged on the basis of JCT forms of contract.
Course outline
After providing an overview of the various forms of JCT available and their benefits and pitfalls, delegates will be taken through a JCT Design and Build Contract 2016. Delegates will then be taken through a set of typical amendments to the contract and the impact they have on the allocation of risk between the employer and the contractor. The course will also discuss contract administration and the role of the employer’s agent/contract administrator in JCT forms.
