Emily joined Birketts in September 2020, and qualified as a Solicitor in June 2022 into our Dispute Resolution Team based in our Norwich office.

Emily assists the team and advises clients on a wide range of disputes relating to contractual interpretation, partnership disputes, professional negligence, debt recovery and fraud matters.

Emily also assists our specialist Intellectual Property and Technology teams. In relation to Intellectual Property, Emily assists the team acting for clients in contentious matters involving copyright, trade marks, and design rights, as well as passing off, patent infringement disputes and breach of confidence. In addition, Emily advises clients in relation to domain name disputes. In relation to the technology sector, Emily assists the team acting for clients in disputes relating to software, software development and IP disputes arising from software and databases.

Emily is part of our Equine sector group and is therefore well placed to advise on disputes that arise from buying and selling horses, livery agreements, equine business sale and purchase, negligence claims, debt recovery and Stud/nomination agreements as well as intellectual property disputes in the Equine industry.

Prior to joining Birketts, Emily graduated from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 2017 with a 2:1 in Law. After university Emily worked as a Paralegal in a national law firm undertaking a wide range of litigation work specialising in costs. In September 2019, Emily went on to study the Legal Practical Course at the University of Law where she achieved a distinction.
