Emma is a Paralegal in our Real Estate Investment Team within the wider Commercial Property Team in our Norwich office. Emma joined Birketts in March 2021.
Emma acts for leading investment managers and institutional investors supporting the Real Estate Investment Team acting on the acquisitions, disposals and asset management of investment fund portfolios across the industrial, logistics, office and retail sectors.
Emma also supports the team with preparing applications for the removal of historic tenancy entries from the title, and monitoring the application at the Land Registry to update the property’s title before the team handles the subsequent asset disposal.
Alongside providing support to the Real Estate Investment Team, Emma manages her own caseload, assisting clients with the ongoing day-to-day asset management across their portfolios which includes, granting of new leases, lease surrenders, licences for alterations, licences to assign and Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 formalities.
Emma deals with the management of the property’s data through an online data room platform which includes the organisation of all documentation working intelligently and collaboratively within our internal team, delivering a responsive, transparent and valuable services to our clients.
Prior to joining Birketts, Emma spent three years gaining hands-on legal experience in local law firms as an Assistant, gaining valuable experience within property law. She has experience of dealing with both freehold and leasehold properties involving acquisition and disposals.
Outside of work, Emma is studying a law degree part time and hopes to progress her legal career further. She has the advantage of being able to study whilst gaining first-hand experience of the practical side of law. Emma enjoys having a healthy body and mind, to maintain this she is an active member of a fitness group, frequently swims and goes for long walks in the country. Emma is a keen traveller and likes to learn about different places in the world. Visiting historical buildings, learning about different cultures and trying local cuisines.
