Isabel qualified as a Solicitor in October 2003 and joined Birketts in January 2016. She is a Senior Associate in our Commercial Property Team in Chelmsford

Isabel specialises in providing commercial property advice for the public sector.

Isabel has experience advising local authorities on large-scale mixed commercial and residential developments and regeneration schemes. Isabel is adept at negotiating multiple development agreements within a competitive procurement context and providing clarity on her client’s exposure to risk. Isabel understands the need for effective collaboration between public and private development partners within a complex regulatory framework.

Isabel has recently been engaged in estate management acting for both a London borough council and local authority trading company.

Within the wider public sector, Isabel has been involved in the redevelopment of two sites for a higher education college and landlord and tenant matters for a university.

Isabel has extensive experience of the real estate aspects in the funding of development projects acting for both funder and borrower. Isabel has taken a lead role in varied transactions involving funding including single asset and portfolio acquisitions, corporate acquisitions, disposals, developments, refinancing and restructuring transactions.

In advising the public sector Isabel draws on her broader experience gained in investment and owner managed acquisitions, active estate management and disposals, developments, secured lending, landlord and tenant and the property and funding aspects of corporate transactions. Isabel has particular experience advising clients in the following sectors: mobile homes, real estate finance, residential and commercial development, education, office parks, hotels and retail.

Isabel is on maternity leave.

Outside of work, Isabel enjoys skiing and getting outdoors for a walk or run.
