Laura qualified as a Solicitor in 2016 and has experience with a wide range of commercial property matters including the acquisition and disposal of freehold and leasehold properties and landlord and tenant matters. Laura acts for both landlords and tenants in connection with the drafting and negotiation of leases. Laura also acts for developers in the acquisition of sites for residential development.
Some of Laura’s recent experience includes assisting a senior solicitor in relation to residential development matters such as: acting for a national housebuilder in connection with the acquisition of a site pursuant to a contract conditional upon planning for up to 600 homes; acting for a local developer in the acquisition of a development site with a GDV of circa £13m (which included a conditional contract, overages and an option) and its subsequent financing; acting for a national housing association on the acquisition of a site for the delivery of affordable homes under s106 from a regional developer; and acting for a local developer in relation to the disposal of affordable homes on its site.
Prior to joining Birketts, in addition to her commercial property work Laura acted for clients on residential property matters such as sales and purchases (including new build homes), re-mortgages and transfers of equity.
Laura graduated from the University of Warwick in 2010 with a 2:1 degree in History. She then undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course in London.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys travelling, calligraphy and dancing. Laura has twice taken part in an annual sleep out raising funds for charity.
