Talia Jacobs

Talia joined EC3 Legal (prior to its merger with Birketts) as a Solicitor in March 2018 and qualified in October 2017 having successfully completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law and obtaining a 2:1 in Law at University.

Talia has joined our Commercial Property department dealing with all commercial property matters working in the London office with Matthew White but working closely with the Chelmsford Commercial Property Team. As well as Talia’s expertise in commercial property transactions she also has a proficiency in residential work – the result of her training contract at a boutique law firm in Chigwell.

Talia has particular experience in commercial leases, advising on acquisitions and disposals of commercial buildings, advising on break clauses and secured lending. Talia’s main client base is concentrated in the London insurance market (the London office is conveniently located opposite the Lloyds building) where she advises insurance companies on their corporate occupation. Talia also acts for educational organisations, UK based SME’s, property developers and private and overseas investors.

Talia specialises largely in landlord and tenant work, assisting Matthew with corporate lettings acting for both landlords and tenants. Whilst Talia specialises in commercial leases, she also assists the wider Chelmsford team with large scale sales and purchases of commercial buildings and with carrying out asset reviews. Talia also supports corporate legal teams with their corporate transactions which have a property element.

Examples of recent work include:

• Assisting with the acquisition of a freehold commercial building for £12,000,000.00;
• Purchasing a plot of land for the purpose of development for a property developer;
• Assisting with a large scale asset review of a portfolio which consisted of over 60 properties; and 
• Assisting a prominent education provider with their long lease of their new premises. 

Outside of work Talia enjoys travelling to different countries, being outdoor and keeping active. Talia recently completed the London to Brighton challenge which involved continuously walking 100km to raise money for charity (and which took a mere 34 hours!). Talia is also involved with several charities both on the fundraising side and on the volunteering side.
