Birketts has advised Sir Richard Matthews on the sale of Fox’s Marina, Boatyard & Chandlery in Ipswich to Morgan Marine in Brightlingsea, forming the newly established, Morgans Group. The formation of Morgans Group brings together two long‑established marine businesses recognised across the industry for their heritage, technical expertise and loyal customer base.
Fox’s Marina, Boatyard & Chandlery, founded more than 50 years ago, has grown into one of the region’s best‑known destinations for yacht services, repair, chandlery and leisure facilities. Morgan Marine, established in 1972, is similarly regarded as a trusted name for boat sales, servicing and marina operations. Both businesses have cultivated strong reputations within the UK marine sector and continue to be valued local employers.
Birketts acted for the seller, with the corporate team led by Seamus Clifford, supported by Amanda Early, Grace Shek, Ryan Smith and Arabella Harris. The team provided full advisory support throughout the transaction, including corporate, tax, real estate and commercial matters.
