Birketts helps secure £5m investment for UltraSoc Technologies Ltd
May 31, 2017

Birketts has completed a £5m funding round for UltraSoc Technologies Ltd, the pioneering technology start-up based in Cambridge, from a premier list of new investors.

Top 100 law firm Birketts has completed a £5m funding round for UltraSoc Technologies Ltd, the pioneering technology start-up based in Cambridge, from a premier list of new investors.

UltraSoC is an independent provider of SoC (systems on chip) infrastructure that enables rapid development of embedded systems based on advanced SoC devices. The funding round will allow UltraSoc to drive continued deployment of its technology and realize its vision of embedding intelligent analytics capabilities into every chip.

Funding has been secured via new investors including Atlante Tech, Enso Ventures, Oxford Capital and Guillaume d’Eyssautier who joined existing investors Octopus Ventures and South East Seed Fund (FSE Group).

Birketts advised the company on all legal matters with Quentin Golder, Partner in Birketts’ Technology Team, leading on the transaction, assisted by Georgina Perrott.

As part of the funding, Miles Kirby of Oxford, Kirill Mudryy of Enso and Alvise Bonivento of Atlante will join the UltraSoC board, alongside existing investor representative Luke Hakes (Octopus), board Chair Chris Gilbert and non-executive director Chris Wade.

UltraSoC CEO, Rupert Baines, commented: “By securing substantial additional capital we can take UltraSoC to the next level of success. Quentin and the team at Birketts were a great help through the entire process and ensured that we had complete peace of mind. It was a pleasure dealing with lawyers that understood our requirements and spoke our language.”

“The management team at UltraSoC has built an attractive business and I am delighted that we were able to play our part in securing additional funding for this Cambridge-based technology success story,” said Quentin Golder. “We are increasingly being asked to assist in this type of work within the technology sector as the Cambridge technology boom continues to go from strength-to-strength.”
