UK Top 50 law firm Birketts has recently worked alongside local charity Home-Start Norfolk, to provide pro-bono support and advice.
The Employment Team assisted Home-Start Norfolk on a restructuring process as a result of funding changes. The restructure will allow the charity to continue serving the communities in Norfolk to its full capabilities.
To help children get the best possible start in life, Home-Start Norfolk supports parents across the county to grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children, learn to cope with the challenges they face and widen their links with the local community. In doing so, parents are empowered to function effectively and independently in their day-to-day lives, building better lives for their children.
Birketts provided advice on the restructure proposals and the requirements to consult with employees, along with assisting with the necessary documentation to allow Home-Start Norfolk to discharge their legal obligations and ensure employees’ interests were looked after.
Sam Greenhalgh, Legal Director for the Employment Team said: “It was a real privilege to bring our expertise and experience to support Home-Start Norfolk during this period of change. Birketts has a wealth of experience advising organisations, including charities, on how best to manage change to their operating model when it impacts staff.
“Home-Start Norfolk does an enormous amount of work within communities around Norfolk to support families and children in their early years, and I am delighted that moving forward it is in the best possible position to continue its great work.”
Liz Cross, Senior Lead for Home-Start Norfolk said: “Birketts were so generous with their time, resource and expertise in supporting Home-Start Norfolk to ensure a difficult process was managed smoothly and efficiently, for which we cannot thank them enough.
“They were sensitive to the challenges we faced and found time to respond immediately to queries or concerns we had, making themselves available to speak to staff individually should it be necessary. It was a pleasure to work with their team.”
