Birketts LLP has advised Cherrydown Vets on its sale to private equity-backed vet services group, Linnaeus, for an undisclosed sum.
Top 100 law firm Birketts and Cambridge-based advisory firm BKL have advised Cherrydown Vets on its sale to private equity-backed vet services group, Linnaeus, for an undisclosed sum.
Cherrydown Vets, one of the largest independent veterinary practices in Essex (operating from Basildon, Stanford Le Hope and Wickford), was formerly owned by Jonathan and Rachel Nurse.
The combined group now totals more than 610 staff across 24 sites. Jonathan Nurse will initially remain with the company to ensure a smooth transition.
Birketts advised on all legal matters with James Allen leading the multi-disciplinary team. Assistance on the deal was provided on a range of legal services, including corporate (Ed Savory), planning (Tom Newcombe), property (Natalie Biggs) and tax (Karl Pocock).
Jonathan Nurse, joint-owner of Cherrydown Vets, said: “The guidance and support that we received from the Birketts team throughout the sale was of the highest calibre. We felt that we were in safe hands right from the off and are delighted to have secured a successful sale.”
James Allen, Corporate Partner at Birketts, said: “It has been a pleasure securing the exit that Jonathan and Rachel were looking to achieve. They had built a fabulous business and we look forward to seeing the practice, under Linnaeus’ management, continue to develop.”
