Birketts welcomes team of seven marine and marine insurance specialists

Birketts has welcomed a team of seven marine and marine insurance claims specialists to its Shipping and International Trade Team.
Joining Birketts from Ince & Co, the specialists will be predominantly based out of the firm’s London office at One London Wall.
The appointments include:
Alex Penberthy –Alex specialises in marine insurance claims with a particular focus on marine related casualties. He handles a wide range of personal injury claims involving passengers, crew and shore side workers engaged in all areas of the marine industry including fishing. He also has extensive experience advising on Athens Convention claims and Admiralty Court procedure. Alex also advises on policy coverage disputes as well as regulatory matters. He works with insurers, P&I clubs and passenger and ferry operators as well as private yacht owners.
Daniel Crockford – An experienced insurance litigator, Daniel specialises in all forms of marine insurance claims, in particular in the yacht and superyacht industry. He has advised and acted on a variety of cases including collision, damage and salvage claims, theft and fraudulent claims, and defending marine professionals and marinas. Daniel also has experience in cargo/freight claims covering all aspects of carriage of goods by sea and road, and warehousing.
Clarissa Dumolo – Joining Birketts as a Legal Director, Clarissa has considerable experience dealing with insurance litigation, with a particular specialism in marine claims in the yacht and superyacht market and insurance fraud. Clarissa deals with a range of claims to include liability disputes, subrogated recovery claims and policy coverage advice in relation to claims including defective works, collision claims, contractual disputes and cargo claims.
Joanna Mansel – Joining Birketts as a Senior Associate, Joanna is an experienced personal injury litigator and advises on a broad range of marine insurance claims, including personal injury claims, collision claims, cargo/freight claims, subrogated recovery claims and contractual disputes.
Markella Papadopoulou – Joining as Paralegal, Markella has supported the team for a number of years and has strong client-facing skills.
Gabbie Hazzell and Kate Jenkins – Joining as Administrators, Gabbie and Kate bring a wealth of administrative support experience.
