New owners with big plans for Cretingham Golf Club
9 February 2018
Leading law firm Birketts has advised Matthew and Claire Thacker (via their company, Harvest Haulage Ltd) on the purchase of Cretingham Golf Club. The financial details of the transaction have not been revealed.
Cretingham Golf Club, near Framlingham, originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1984 but was extended to 18 holes by its previous owners. The par-71 course is set in 122 acres of picturesque Suffolk parkland with the River Deben running through it and under the new ownership promises to be an excellent facility for all to enjoy.
Birketts advised Mr and Mrs Thacker on all legal matters with Jack Royall and Ed Savory leading on the transaction.
The new owners said: “We are delighted to have taken ownership of this beautiful Golf Club and are very thankful for the swift, clear, calm advice that Birketts has provided throughout the transaction. We had to work to a very tight timeframe and Jack and Ed made sure we achieved it. It was a very uncertain period for Cretingham Golf Club but we were expertly guided through the process. We have exciting plans for 2018 and work will shortly begin to upgrade, enhance and develop facilities including the bar area in the club house and a covered driving range.”
“To have assisted Matthew and Claire to secure this dream is very rewarding. No doubt the Club, log cabins and related facilities, under their leadership, will prosper and be enjoyed by golfers and the wider community for many years to come.” said Ed Savory.
