Jack Royall

Jack Royall joined Birketts in 2005 and is a Partner in our agriculture and estates team.

Jack has over 25 years experience advising individuals, families and businesses across the Country involved in agriculture, estates, renewable energy and natural capital.

In particular his work for a multitude of clients centres around advice relating to business structures and long term planning and protection, whilst also leading teams supporting clients’ transactional and operational needs.

Jack also has very broad based business experience having served on the Firm’s Partnership Board for more than ten years. A period of significant growth and success for the firm. He was Head of the Private Client Division for the last six years and lead the agriculture and estates team from 2011 to 2020.

Jack is a Director of Birketts Trust Corporation. He is a Trustee of two Charities. He was Under Sheriff of Norfolk from 2020 to 2026 and is now serving as the Deputy to assist with the transition.

He is based at our Norwich office.

Recent work highlights

Advising a large multi generational family farming business with assets in excess of £100m in a reorganisation to allow the next generation of the family to step forward in management and to balance and protect the interests of the wider family members.

Advising many family businesses – particularly farming partnerships and companies – in relation to succession and protection following the recent reforms to Agricultural and Business Property Relief from Inheritance Tax.

Advising in relation to appropriate business structures, governance and planning issues for eight Landscape Recovery Schemes across the Country to satisfy and balance both the requirements of DEFRA and the interests of their members.

Leading the Firm’s Private Client Division through a period of significant growth between 2020 and 2026, when the Division tripled its turnover and the firm moved from four offices to seven.
