Iona Cummings

Iona joined Birketts as a Solicitor within our Public Sector Team in October 2021, having qualified as a Solicitor earlier in the same month (October 2021). Prior to joining Birketts, Iona was a Trainee Solicitor at a Local Authority were she gained experience working within the: Childcare, Contracts; and Property legal teams.
During her training contract, Iona was able to gain experience advising on a wide variety of public sector issues. Iona is practised in drafting, reviewing and advising for local authority clients on: public procurement, commercial contracts/agreements, governance, and a variety of commercial property matters such as landlord and tenant act leases, tenancy agreements and other property matters.
Iona is based in our Chelmsford office.
Iona originally graduated from Swansea University with a degree in Ancient History. Following this Iona proceeded to undertake the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course in order facilitate her progression into a legal career.
Due to her passion for ancient history, Iona enjoys exploring museums and historical sites in order to see how the past continues to affect us today. Iona is also a theatre lover, and is always looking for new shows to go and see.
