Jaden Johnson

Jaden, or Jay as he is better known, joined Birketts in September 2021 as a Trainee Solicitor before going on to qualify as a Solicitor into our Commercial Litigation Team in September 2023. Jay is based predominantly in our Chelmsford office.
Jay spent his fourth and final seat before qualification with the Banking and Finance Team. Jay supported the team in advising both lenders and borrowers on all aspects of corporate lending and real estate finance transactions.
Before this, Jay worked in our Commercial Litigation Team, assisting in a wide variety of disputes relating to breach of contract, international transactions, insolvency proceedings, commercial debt recovery and contentious trusts and probate. He is a strong advocate of Alternative Dispute Resolution and strives to deliver commercially orientated advice to his clients.
Jay also has experience in dealing with company mergers and demergers, acquisitions and disposals, private equity transactions, joint ventures, corporate finance and an array of varying company procedure matters. Jay has also worked with a number of local authorities in drafting for and advising such clients on: public procurement, commercial contracts and governance.
Prior to joining Birketts, Jay graduated from the University of Kent with an undergraduate degree in Law before achieving a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course along with a Master’s degree in Law, Business and Management, all whilst occupying various part-time jobs. He completed electives in Mergers and Acquisitions, Commercial Dispute Resolution and Employment Law.
During the penultimate year of his undergraduate degree, Jay participated in the Birketts Vacation Scheme, in which he undertook seats in the Commercial Property, Employment, Corporate, and Construction departments and was subsequently offered a training contract with Birketts.
