Having trained in London, Kevin joined Birketts in 1985. He was admitted as a Solicitor in October 1984. Kevin heads the firm's Employment Law Team in Chelmsford and has specialised in employment law for 30 years. His experience is in all areas of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious.
Kevin has handled a number of high profile employment law cases in Tribunal through to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and into the Court of Appeal. Two such cases have been reported. He was also the Judge at first instance in a landmark case which was subsequently heard in the Court of Appeal who upheld his Judgment. The case now appears in many textbooks and journals and is Copsey v WWB Devon Clays Limited  ICR 296.
He has dealt with many High Court injunction cases often in the arena of restrictive covenant enforcement.
Kevin also is particularly well versed in the operation of TUPE. He has considerable recent experience in advising on TUPE in the public sector, particularly with respect to outsourcing from the public sector to the private sector and the attendant pension implications. Kevin advises several national companies on service provision change under TUPE.
He was appointed to sit as an Employment Judge in the Employment Tribunals in 2002 and continues to sit on a part-time basis on all types of cases.
Kevin has also developed a practice in the arena of sports law acting for a well-known football club and a county cricket club where he has advised on a variety of matters including match fixing issues. He has recently acted for one former England cricket captain. He has also recently represented two high profile chief cricket correspondents in significant matters against national newspapers.
Kevin is also very well known in the legal world as a very effective public speaker and trainer and is regularly a speaker at seminars, both Birketts and for ACAS as well as providing bespoke in house training for clients.
