He studied History and Philosophy at the University of East Anglia, Norwich before studying at the College of Law for his solicitors' Parts 1 and 2 examinations.
He is passionate about the study of history, in particular the history of land holding in Britain from the early middle ages on, and holds an MA in local history awarded by UEA. He has also studied Classical Greek with the Open University and taken courses in French law at London University.
He is a passionate walker and Munroist and when unable to climb Scottish mountains he can be spotted running the lanes and footpaths around his home in Cretingham or riding his lawn mower in an attempt to keep at least some control of his 10 acres of garden, wild flower meadows, woodland and paddocks.
He firmly believes that his clientele will benefit greatly from the wide ranging experience and expertise offered by Birketts, a leading local firm which has deep roots in the local farming community.
